Japan Hour

Alright, I've been procrastinating on my Tokyo entries. Well, it doesn't make sense (to me) to upload on both facebook and the blog! So if you are interested, heres the link:

1. Goodbye 2008
A few photos taken at Zojoji temple on New Year Day countdown. Highlight of the day include 3000 balloons released into the sky and the unimaginable crowd. Personally I recommend the video for a better grasp of the whole event.

2. Daiba 1 day tour!
The day when I fell in love with hatchback cars. Friends who know me knows my preference for 'round round cars' but the cute lil' toyotas at the City Showcase changed my mind. Check out those EV cars too, you have to give it to the Japanese when it comes to technology. The album also feature 2 renowned architecture, Fuji TV Building by Kenzo Tange and the romantic pseudo-Venice Venus Fort.

3. Tokyo Remix!

Basically a rojak compilation of what I saw on my way to my accomodation on the first day. Also featuring 2 tourist attractions, the Tokyo Tower and Asakusa Temple.

4. Yokohama Ferry Terminal by FOA
Simply on the architecture of the famous ferry terminal by Foreign Office Architects. It is a must-go for all architecture students who visit Japan! Jin and I took some nice portraits there too ;)

5. Tokyo Chinatown
A small collection of 14 photographs on the street scape and some familiar chinese restaurant names and food.

6. Warm and Cosy Tokyo Stay!

If you love kids, you must not miss this album! Featuring my host family, Cha Yoon and her very adorable 1 yr old Seh Min. I love that baby to bits during my stay there!! Check out photos from my room to the neighbourhood and the husband's acapella concert!

7. Prada, Dior, Tods, Comme des Garcon and many more!
Nope, this is not about shopping! Yet another album on architecture, but this time, closer to heart and more interesting to general public I guess. Follow me as we walk down Omotesando and Ginza, where upscale shopping is located. Beautiful architecture make shopping a zillion times more satisfying, not to mention that many stores there were designed by really famous architects!

I hope you enjoy Tokyo as much as I did! ^^

Looks like you had fun - I went to many of those places that you did, so it was nice seeing photos of them!

Hi Jonny!

The one week in Tokyo was all about rushing from places to places! There are too many places to visit and sightseeing! Nevertheless I had a good time with my travel partner. The New Year Countdown at Zojoji was probably the best countdown party I had ever attended!

3000 balloons and 30,000 people! I couldn't move at all, let alone take picture of it! Ah! You gotta experience that too the next time u go Tokyo!

Each time I have been to Japan (3 times) I have gone in October or November which is a great time to go, but it would also be nice to go at a different time of year.....spring time would be good too!

Not sure when my next visit to Japan will be though - it has got very expensive with the poor £ exchange rate! My next trip is to Malaysia & Hong Kong in April which I am looking forward to!
