A State of Mind

Yoohoooo~ Ladies and Gentleman, Im back from the marvelous Melbourne!! I had a wonderful time with an awesome company during the 6 days! That aside, here is something more urgent.

I won a pair of tickets to any screening at Sinema Old School!!!
Thank you Sinema for the pleasant surprise :)

There were so many films to choose from recently but it didn't take me long to decide on A State of Mind. Judging from the enthusiastic feedback from my dear friends on my previous post, North Korea Exposed, I guess there will be someone who will be interested to watch this with me right?? teeheehee!

A State of Mind (PG)

2004 | Documentary | Korean, English w English subtitles | 93mins | $10

Director: Daniel Gordon

This documentary tells the story of two teenage girls and their families as the girls prepare to participate in this year’s Mass Games, an intricately choreographed display of dancers, acrobats, and karate-chopping soldiers, celebrating North Korea’s statehood and revolutionary zeal in one of the last surviving Communist showcase pageants. North Koreans rehearse for millions of hours in preparation for this unique extravaganza. You’ll see the girls and their schoolmates practice their routines in Kim Il Sung Square, their diligent efforts leading toward an awe-inspiring public performance. This film yields surprising insights into family life and daily activity in the little known world of the “hermit kingdom.”
