Heyri overload!

"Heyri Art Valley is a unique municipality for culture and art, located in Paju, Gyeonggi Province of South Korea. Heyri's distinctive character derives from the fact that artists and cultured intellectuals formed a community to construct the village without involvement of government or local governing board..."
-Woo Kyung Kook, Heyri Architecture Vol 0.

HEYRI IS AWESOME! What could be more beautiful than a village build by creators (architects, painters, sculptors, calligraphers, photographers, musicians, writers, critics, publishers, art discipline educators etc.) and culture and art managers (facilitators of art museum, gallery, concert halls, theatres, book stores and art shops and movie producers, etc.)!

My lovely ex-colleagues brought Wei Qi and I to this wonderland 2 weekends ago! You have no idea how excited I was when I was invited! =D

Did I mention that one of my favourite cartoon character, Dalki, has a house in Heyri? Muahahahaha! I WAS THRILLED TO VISIT DALKI LAND!

Eun-Ji and Dalki's friend, Lemon! (dalki means strawberry in Korean). Eun-Ji has been very nice to Wei Qi and I during our stay in the company. She is almost like a sister to us! I love her much!

Scream: D-A-L-K-I!

daaaaaaaaaaaalkiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!

Dalki friend - Dongchimee! He loves dung -_-# Gosh, I feel like a 3 yr old kid!

Another friend of Dalki - Banana! And yes, I know all the characters! NO DOUBT bout that!

Thats Dolbam a.k.a Chestnut!

Korean's hopscotch! Gosh I miss playing that in primary school, dont you?!!

Its amazing how a building could be designed based on a cartoon chracter! The spaces were really designed for kids - compact, cosy and full of ramps for some elements of fun!

Awww dalki and her boyfriend, watermelon! Ha! Sky and Adeline never fail to wish me good luck in finding my watermelon boy! LOL!

See what I meant by architecture based on a cartoon character! The bldg form is very literal!

Dead watermelon spotted amidst the thrash!

We paid 5,000 won to enter Dalki House! Everyone busy putting on the Dalki wrist band!

Even the pathway is lined with all the characters! Tell me how to not feel happy that day! In fact, I AM HAPPY is an understatement!

A ferris wheel for kids that is not in use anymore!

More photos were taken in Dalki House. I shall post them up when I get them from Wei Qi! He is taking forever n ever to send me photos! Boo.

Alright, Heyri is not only about Dalki! It is a land of beautiful architecture!

It looked like a styrofoam model isnt it? Clean cut lines results from fine detailing, remarkable!

When will I ever come up with such dynamic design! I can only stare at it in awe right now. Boo.

Pay attention to how the columns "grow" into the building!

Arnt you excited just by looking at these photographs! I am, just by posting them now!

Outside a children learning centre a.k.a child care centre.

Nostalgic. Didnt this reminded you of crayons and happy colours when you were an innocent kid? Theres something I like about Korean words. They makes me happy :)

Unsheltered study space. Lets all learn under the sun! Wish I was a kid, once again!

This bldg was designed by a colleague from YuJin! I don't really fancy colours in buildings though =X

I like clear cut lines. Ceiling is ceiling, floor is floor and the wall is a wall. You see you know. Call me boring.

How would you feel if you were to walk down a street with buildings like this by the side? I will think Im in lalaland.

My colleagues and I settled for dinner in an Italian restaurant. Pretty and colourful bldgs surround us outside the restaurant. We cant help but posed a million times for the cameras!

Mr Mun and Eun-Ji! They are very very spontaneous!

I love this picture! Cuteeeeee!

The Heyri gang!

I spotted this nice frame of Mr Mun and the sky so I asked him to pose for my camera! I think it turned out as good as I expected! Most imptly, we had fun :)

Oh here it is, the italian family restaurant.

Theres also a nice book store in Heyri, where I bought the book, Heyri Architecture Vol 0.

The book store is quite narrow and one is brought up and down the levels only by ramps!

I dunno what is this building but I thot it looked interesting. Ok, it looked FANTASTIC!

Need I say more about the flowers in Korea? I couldn stop taking photos of them!

Leaves are beginning to turn red as fall is approaching!

Heehee, quirky mirror facade! Can you imagine this material as a facade!

Not again. They are too pretty to resist!

An art gallery with a straw chair installation outside. Cool!

I'd love to sit here alone too, reading my Vogue magazine and enjoy the serenity.

Wahahhahaa! I told you Mr Mun is very very very spontaneous!

Yup, thats e title of the exhibition in the gallery.

I love this picture of Eun-Ji and her reflection! I caught her unaware, which makes the shot even more natural.

The chocolate factory! Thank god we didnt go in if not I'd be rounder than I am now!

We had tea at UV house! Check out the interiors of the cafe in the photos later!

A unique shade of bluish green painted the entire interior. A perfect setting for a 21st birthday tea party! Boo.

Old school wooden rocking chair! I love the warm colours of the photo!

Im loving my Dalki paper wrist band! Needless to say, i kept it as a momento!

test shots with the colour accent function of my ixus.

The place is so beautiful that everyone started to pose! Luckily we had the whole cafe to ourselves and hence not embarrased to have all the great fun going crazy taking photos!

I miss my colleagues soooooooo much! We didnt manage to cover the entire Heyri but nevertheless it was good fun we had :) The clear blue sky makes a photographer happy too.

Heyri, I'll be back!
