What hopeful faces we have before our nightmare begins!

Our Batam experience was none other than... the 3Ds,

DELUDED.

DISAPPOINTING.

DISASTROUS.

Those blogs and forums that recommended the 1-day-itinerary in Batam ought to be shot. To hell with avocado milkshake, A&W and Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. We spent SGD 80 on 2 return ferry tickets and 45-60min ferry ride later, we found ourselves desperate to leave.

The miserably-sized chicken from A&W was soggy and the curly fries were cold. The Root Beer Float was additionally charged as Root Beer + another surcharge for 'upsizing' to a Float, despite the enticing photo of a Set Meal which includes chicken, curly fries and the root beer float.

Avocado milkshake. Each of us had a sip and off to the rubbish bin it goes.

A construction-in-progress opposite Nagoya Hills. I cant make out what is it going to be.

A carpark? Another mega mall? I foresee the huge structure's gonna be a wasted investment again.

The mega Nagoya Hill mall had absolutely n-o-t-h-i-n-g worth shopping for. Yes you heard me, MEGA MALL. Yes I repeat, N-O-T-H-I-N-G. Well, if you are a fan of pasar-malam fashion and POLO imitations (or 'authentic rejects' if you wish to live in denial), I guess you'll find yourself in heaven.

We gave up on the idea of a seafood dinner because we have no idea how to survive the hours before dusk. No thanks, no more Batam for us, not even the resorts!

It felt really good to be back on the Singapore shores and even better when we stepped foot on Sentosa that evening. What an island-hopping experience!

Coincidentally, birthdays at Coastes always bring me great memories.

It was Yach last august, and now, the boyfriend and a beautiful sunset!

Thank goodness beloved Sentosa saved the day! The beach walk after dinner marked the end of our long illogical weekend from 20-22 Aug! Initially I thought it was illogical because there was going to be an overseas getaway i.e. BATAM and yet a night's stay in a local hotel. You get my cheap-thrill contradiction? -__-"" HAHAHA!

Boeing Boeing, the longest running comedy in the history of French theatre and London's West End, was the second theatrical production we attended after The Necessary Stage's _Can Change. Directed by Glen Goei from the acclaimed Wild Rice theatre company, the play revolved around architect Bernard and his three air stewardess girlfriends who doesn't know of each others' existence.

David's favourite was Junko, from JAL but I love Jelly, the stewardess from Cathay Pacific! The play was hilarious especially with the exaggerated japanese, cantonese and singlish accents from the ladies. I find Adrian Pang's British/American/Singaporean accent quite disturbing at times.

While the play might appear to be a tasteless cultural joke when Janette, the SIA girl, kept emphasizing on her tai-tai desire to marry a rich husband, David and I were wondering if there was a tinge of sacarsm mocking at our SIA ladies. Overall, I think its a play worth watching, regardless if u are a theatre buff or not!

The past week had been eventful!

I watched four great movies on DVDs,

had a luxurious one-night stay at a boutique hotel,

visited two islands and watched a movie and a play!

Here's The Club along Ann Siang Road,

its interior designed by Colin Seah's Ministry Of Design!

Instead of the usual door hangers, there is a round spinning board where you can spin to fill in the blank after the words, 'I need'.

Everything is in monochrome and kept to the very minimal, as you can see from the room's card key! No prints, no colour, nothing.

Even the toilet is so beautiful, isn't it? The elegant handheld shower head looks like a retro mic though!

We were so comfortable in the room that we decided to splurge on their room service. The food was above average with a decent serving, in particularly the tuna caesar salad, which was fantastic!

heehee. me and my happy toes ;)

Earlier in the day after we checked in, we went to my favourite boutique patisserie nearby the hotel to get a slice of their double pralines chocolate cake!

YUM YUM YUM YUM!

(hahaha, do you play BBQ Pro on ur iPhone? YUM YUM YUM YUM!)

We also went to Kki to get their japanese inspired cakes! Anyway, Kki is located inside Little Drӧm Store which I've mentioned here.

You gotta try their Chocolate-Banana, white choc, dark choc and cheese cakes!

We ended up gobbling 5 slices of delightful cakes (thanks to $#%@&*!)

that night and the next morning!

And that was ⅓ of my long weekend!

i wish i have more conversations like the one i had with tony, rebecca and xiu xia last night. somehow by being myself I probably left them a different impression of the usual yuting they know. i guessed i was too tired to clown around and the company was perfect for those discussions, although they were shocked when words like those came out from me HAHAHA! The short sharing on culture, experiences, films and movies made me know more about myself. I actually figured out why I started watching certain movies while I was telling them about those movies! Thats the power of communication. Talking to myself a hundred times doesn't make more sense than sharing with and learning from people (and myself) what I am thinking about. The meeting was so good that the conversation and silly jokes kept ringing in my head even after i woke up this morning. I believe that discussing about issues and voicing out our opinions like that is an essential part of growing up, and I love such form of exchange. Im really looking forward to a games and movie marathon with them. Perhaps I shall make that happen!

In the 1936 Summer Olympics, the Nazi would rather lose a medal than to admit that the Jews could be world best athletes! The movie was based on a true story about a German Jew, who was also the best female high jumper, being kept out of the Olympics in Nazi Germany. The politicians resorted to bringing a man (but brought up as a woman, thats another interesting sub-plot) into the competition in order to keep out the Jew. The movie ended with an exclusive interview with the high jumper, Gretal Bergmann, who shared about her fear and helplessness during that time.

The movie brought some insights to politics and sports.

I think the most exciting part was when we strode across the VIP seats and make our way out to the City Hall MRT right after the fireworks! I HATE GETTING CAUGHT IN HUMAN TRAFFIC JAMS so imagine the huge sense of satisfaction, no, security, when we reached Orchard just 15 minutes after the fireworks finale!

I think the patriotic boyfriend will never bring me along for National Day Parades anymore. HAHAHAHA! :D

I experience sharp pain on my right shoulder blade each time submission draws near and I figured that it is due to my poor sitting posture in front of the computer for long hours. I don't slouch, which explained why Im free of backaches, BUT MY TABLE IS FREAKING TOO HIGH FOR MY WRIST! If I adjust the chair higher, MY FREAKING SHORT LEGS CANNOT TOUCH THE FLOOR, which is an equally bad posture!

Sometimes it got so bad that my right arm aches like crazy and even dropping it doesn't feel any better. I can't wait to change my 80cm high table and give my room a facelift...

Come, birthday come! I have a big plan for my room! :D

It was the first time i cried buckets in the cinema!

An excellent movie which centers around important themes of a family. The emotional drama will tug your heartstrings when bitterness and hatred accumulated between mother and daughter was eventually replaced by forgiveness and compassion. Its also wrenched our hearts to see how helpless we all are when faced with the unpredictable Mother Nature. I think everyone can easily relate to the little sub-plots like teenage love, filial piety and China's rise and fall over the years.

This movie is definitely one that makes you think, love and reflect. I'm sure you will see many ladies, even some men, walking out of the cinema with teary eyes.

It will be a huge pity if you miss this movie!

And how can we miss out Royston Tan when we talk about the film industry in Singapore? His witty remarks and not-so-subtle sarcasm was spilled all over the short film below, after his film "15" got 27 cuts from the Singaporean censors!

Food for thought:

Even if self-censorship is granted, do you think Singaporeans will be disciplined enough to not complain/criticize about the government's choice of film when we choose to watch a gross, horror film at our own risk?

Night Fest 2010

Two Sundays ago, David and I attended Night Fest 2010! I was really excited about it because it is uncommon to see art & cultural festival in Singapore! I knew about this event through facebook, a.k.a the entertainment branch of Google in today's age I'd say.

Our first station was the World's Slowest SMS Billboard at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM)! The setting looked like some construction scaffolding, but you know something was different about it from the big mobile numbers hanging on top. It was probably this that aroused the public's curiosity to stop and appreciate the installation!

SMS a text message to the number stated and your message will be displayed manually, character by character, by the people stationed on the scaffold. The alphabet and number cards on the ground will be tied to a string and then drawn up to the respective people on the scaffold. You can imagine HOW SLOW IT WAS TO DISPLAY ONE MESSAGE!

Nevertheless, I thought it makes a brilliant idea for proposals! Imagine you see the people up there trying to make out a message which turns out to be,

"WILL YOU MARRY ME, XXX?"

and then next to you your man is down on his knees!

WAHAHAHAHAHA!!! IM SO GONNA BE A ROMANTIC BOYFRIEND IN MY NEXT LIFE!! AND DAVID CHEN IM NOT HINTING YOU AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT THIS METHOD OR ANYTHING SIMILAR. GOOD LUCK!

HAHAHAHA OKAY OKAY I STLL LOVE YOU!!

After all the daydreaming, we proceeded to 8Q opposite SAM where the Flea-tique is!! It was really nice to see some vintage cameras on sale amidst the dozens of fashion apparel and "pre-loved" goods. Oh c'mon, JUST SAY 2ND-HAND LAH! "Pre-loved" is such a disgusting beautification word in marketing and publicity strategies.

Of course, the focus of the festival is much more than the flea market. Here are a few exhibitions and performances I had caught that night.

New World 2010 is the theme for Night Fest this year. The florescent light tubes that formed the word were secured to the steel framework structure that doubles up as a "photography template" on the opposite side!

This one was cute! There were several dancers, all dressed in the 60s fashion, grooving to the beats of retro chinese songs! The audience were also encouraged to join them and the response from both the young and the old was pretty good!

These huge "satellite dishes" outside the National Museum are props for a play that is scheduled at 1am that night! As much as I wanted to catch the highlight of this festival, its a pity that we barely have the energy to wait overnight.

We also visited the 4 galleries inside National Museum which showcased Singapore's food, fashion, photography and entertainment history. Anyway, these galleries are not exclusive for the Festival and you can visit them anytime. Best of all, admission is free!

These tents were part of an art installation in the Museum. Many children were attracted to it and the kids looked so cute with the big headphones and small televisions inside every tent!

TOTALLY NOT CUTE AT ALL PLEASE. I LOOKED SO OVERSIZED IN THE TENT! Worse thing is,

ME: eee cute meh, you want go in take photo?

DAVID: huh Don't want la! inside so dirty so many people stepped in with their shoes...

ME: WAH PIANG THEN U STILL ASK ME GO IN!

PEOPLE LIKE HIM... DRIVES ME CRAZY!

There was also outdoor movie screening at the museum's bus bay. It was showing the 1963 chinese classic, 梁山伯与朱英台！ I loved this show but the version I'd ever watched was the one starring 吴奇隆! *Can't help but feeling young all over again HAHAHA*

Hohoho! Behind the museum is MY FAVOURITE ESCALATOR! If Im not wrong its the only outdoor escalator in Singapore! I love how the sides are just green lawns which made the experience on the escalator very fantasy-like. I told David it looked literally like stairways to heaven! HAHAHAHA!!

I had probably covered only 10% of the Night Fest because we missed many other performances inside SAM, Peranakan Museum and Substation. It will probably take another evening to fully experience the event! Perhaps it was due to the many free admissions during the Festival, the response from the public was encouraging! There were groups of people at any one performance space at all time, to say the least.

This is one step closer to a thriving art scene in Singapore!! :D

The night ended with a late dinner at Hogs Breath @ Chijmes! Frankly, Chijmes is only good for the rich expats and for watching World Cup. The food in every restaurant is overpriced! I can definitely get similar ambience elsewhere, e.g. Mel's Place @ Kuo Chuan Ave, if you think thats what you are paying for.

Muahaha I'm attending stats lecture with Mr. Chen right now!! What a diligent boy he is, paying attn to the boring lecturer while the girlfriend is quietly blogging beside him instead of reading her dissertation material :D

I always wonder how will it be like if David Roy Gina Lun Ivan n I were in the same class together! Hahaha that's y it's so exciting today!! Now I'm sitting next to my boyfriend in a lecture!!! Hahaha

I saw a beautiful rainbow yesterday outside Raffles Hotel! I stood there for a good 5 min before I walked further and saw a gorgeous celebrity couple, Allan Wu and Wong Li-lin! I was so closed to them that I could hear their conversation and Li-lin has a very natural english accent. Allan Wu wasn't as over-sized as I assumed from Amazing Race. They looked really good together!

Seeing those Commencement photos on facebook stirred a mixed feeling inside me. I would be wearing the blue robes with pink stripes today if I have the courage to believe in what I really need. Anyhow, I shall be distracted no more. Im on the way to wearing the red stripes next year instead. ONE MORE YEAR! I will pass my dissertation! I will pass my thesis! I wont retain! HAHAHAHA!

I know I wont regret choosing red over pink, I wont!

The best boyfriend and I brought home an OTO POWERFOOT for my parents yesterday! My parents' birthdays are 1 wk apart in July and my mum have been complaining about the pain in her legs so the best boyfriend suggested buying POWERFOOT for them! Everyone was so happy last night! =D

Plans for Night Safari on Sunday evening was replaced by a strenuous game of basketball at Plaza Singapura's arcade!! We were all sweating and panting after a few games and the aged Lun suggested toilet breaks to wash up after the games! HOW NOT TO FEEL OLD! play in air-conditioned arcade also need wash up sia!!! =D

The best boyfriend have been planning my birthday!! He said its gonna be 3D2N! HAHAHAHA!!! YOU DIE! I KNOW WHAT IT IS ALREADY! HAHAHAHA! We are going Korea right right right!? HAHAHA!! TELL ME LEH!

Oh by the way, I was surprised to see LV, Chanel and even marc jacobs birthday cakes online!! They looked so cute and some, so real! I wonder if they taste as good! HAHAHA NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE IN THIS WORLD TODAY!

and we were appointed to be the receptionist for the ceremony, a.k.a the Angbao Guards! Muahaha :D

Luckily we left the reception table and made it just in time for the poolside ceremony upstairs.

This is the super funny photographer David and I like a lot! He stood on a dining chair and took several candid shots for us, so you can imagine those cartoon shots with super big heads and ultra small bodies... WOO!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THOSE PHOTOS!! :D

Anyway, we all agreed that the photographer looked more like a CHEN than David! HAHAHA compare him, Adrian and Shufen - don't they look more alike than David, Shufen and Adrian!?

WAHAHHAHA!! DAVID CHEN! WHICH DUSTBIN WERE YOU FROM!?!??!

Heres the beautiful bride Mrs. Cherie Chen! Will she look more and more like a CHEN in time to come? WAHAHAHAHHAHA~

After the ceremony we all went back to the complimentary suite for a good rest!

Housing the photos

We bought a sleek photo album for the photographs initially but it turns out that the clean and crisp plastic laminate over the pictures in the album seemed contradictory to the adventurous and unpredictable experience of lomography.

These photographs should be felt with the hands,

we thought.

We wanted the 'recycled paper colour' for a raw vintage feel so we got a relatively cheap schedule book ($4.90) from Muji and inked the cover page with stencil, marker and stickers.

Im glad to have printed the matt photographs with a white border. They look way better like this.

We deliberately stick those pictures with masking tape to get a rugged feel. Handwriting was perferred over printed words for a more personalised touch. The more D.I.Y the better. The more old-school the better. The less fanciful the better.

The stickers were coincidentally appropriate too! I got them from Eastpoint! by the way, EASTPOINT ROCKS if you have forgotten about it HAHAHAHHAA ;)

This album is still way below scrap booking standards, but it is definitely a cheap and easy method to keep those memories! There is still a long way to go...!

This was the panel we submitted for the competition. We are a busy team because 3/4 of our members take turns to go overseas during the month before submission! Nevertheless I think we make a great team and we hope to make it to the finals! I promise I'll eat more vegetables if we make it!! :D

Last Friday, we had a sumptuous post-submission steamboat before going to Loof for some beer! It was a hilarious night as we exposed some dark secrets and had good laughs about sex! :D

My twin geek joined us at Loof! Both of us spent the later part of the night with a group of amusing friends and teared in our own silly jokes :D I hope Roy will organise a successful ktv session next week! That is so gonna be my motivation to work!!

We finally made our way to Dim Joy on Saturday! Its been a huge procrastination since April. Dim Joy, located in the atmospheric Chinatown (80 Neil Road), serves refined Hong Kong-style dim sum in a casual shophouse setting. I enjoyed my time there and the food is much better than average, one of the more unique and tasty dim sum I've tried. I'll definitely return for more! By the way, the restaurant is opened by local actress, Michelle Saram, and a partner!

Now here comes the long-awaited dim sum! :D

点聚虾饺皇 King Shrimp Har Gao. The skin is neither too thick nor too chewy and best of all, the 3 prawns inside each dumpling is succulent and fresh! 3 prawns! Yes! 3 in 1 dumpling! This is definitely one of our favourite dish, and I believe it will be so for prawn lovers alike!

香芹叉烧肠 Barbecued Pork and Celery in Rice Roll. Frankly speaking, this tasted ordinary - BBQ pork cubes in translucent skin. I prefer the same dish from Victor's Kitchen in Sunshine Plaza.

冰花锅贴 Savoury Glutinous Dumpling. I am no food guru but when it comes to 锅贴, you gotta have 101% faith in me! This dish tastes as good as it looks! Not to mention that the skin is really thin to wrap a generous amount of pork stuffing, it is also very affordable at $3.50 for 8 pieces! I have no idea how the 'web' on top is integrated to the dumplings but it is delicious on its own! I thought it tasted like those typical brown ice cream cone. HAHAHAHA!

皮蛋瘦肉粥 Century Egg with Lean Pork Congee. I thought this was quite bland and disappointing. It was slightly more tasty after we added soy sauce and pepper. I think I can easily get better congee from Crystal Jade, or even Bedok's 85 market!

岭南鸡蛋挞 Lingnan Egg Tart. Its been a long time since I had egg tarts this nice in Singapore!! The crust is warm and delicate when served while the core is soft and bouncy! HAHAHA! I can't find a more suitable word for it, you gotta try it for yourself!!!

金牌流沙包 Custard Bun. If you are the kind who loves to have hot custard oozing out of the soft and fluffy bun, this is definitely the dish for you! I find it especially tasty because you can feel the texture of the castor sugar as though they are really “流沙” (sand)!

桂花绿茶糕 Osmanthus Green Tea Jelly. The dessert was a fresh combination of the strong-scented Chinese Osmanthus flower, rich green tea and slightly sweetened jelly. It wasn't spectacularly good, but unique is the word. I think its worth a try for first timers since its recommended by the Chef after all!

The bill came up to be $45. Expensive or not, you decide :D After the hearty lunch, we explored the eclectic Ann Siang Hill nearby before going up to The Pinnacle.

One of our agenda that day was to visit The little Dröm Store. I've heard raves about this shop a few months back from word of mouth, websites and magazines but I never thought that the world would be so small - it was actually opened by David's friend!

The store sells stationery, vintage knick-knacks and toy cameras. Their in-store Kki Cafe is also very popular I heard. It was almost full-house on a Saturday afternoon. Our stomachs nearly exploded after the dim sum so we gave the desserts at Kki's a miss. Its a pity because I heard that they are good!

Muahahahaha!! My radiant smile after buying a polka dot tote bag from the store. hehehehe!

The lady at kKi thought that it was our 2nd visit there because she saw a couple dressed exactly like us previously. David and her started chatting from there and realised that she is from the same church too! Tell me about a small world, a smaller Singapore I say!

And then we saw BooksActually, a quaint little book store selling books, toy cameras like Holga and Superheadz, and their own line of stationery and vintage knick-knacks under their imprint Birds and Co.. The store owners handpicked each and every book in this store - what a personalised service and tedious effort!

Not far away from BooksActually, we spotted this cool metal body parked along the road! Being a car-idiot, I can only say that this precious machine laid very beautifully and suitably on the nostalgic Ann Siang Hill.

Can someone tell me what car is this? Its looked mysterious like a bat! Fyi, I call the orange Lamborghini cockroach and the green ones grasshopper. I always believe that car designs evolve from animals/insects!

A short walk later we saw a makeshift 'hair salon' in the back alley! The barber was an old man in his 60s I think. This reminded me of the 'roadside barber' I saw outside some construction site on my way to Marina Barrage. Classic!

It was a good day for photo-taking with Ixus and Diana Mini! We snapped along the way, stopping here and there under the hot damn sun.

We proceeded to The Pinnacle @ Duxton in the late afternoon. We wanted to catch the sunset on their 50th storey but it was a cloudy day. Anyway, if you are still unaware, The Pinnacle's 50th storey sky bridge is opened for public access at a nominal fee of SGD 5, payable only by your CEPAS card. There is also a quota of 200 visitors per day.

if only the Simei estate is this nice. HAHAHAHAHA!

We were dead beat by the end of the day but a great dim sum and tons of beautiful photos make up for the messy hair and sweaty bodies! I can't wait to collect my photographs tomorrow :D

I enjoyed a discussion about Asia's history at Chialing's house today. NY, Chialing and I shared our experiences, understanding and views on issues like the Japanese society, Nanjing massacre and North Korea. I love such conversations, especially when it happened so naturally, out of similar interests and curiosity. We shared with each other a few sources like youtube channels and films. Although it took away almost 90min of our supposed 'production time' for the competition, I guessed it was a time very very well-spent :)

I finally step out of poverty when Felicia recommended me a 4-day week internship at an architecture firm along Seah Street. I was attracted by the allowance and grabbed the opportunity without hesitation, like I always do. Now I realised that Im struggling everyday between money and interests. This lesson taught me to do my homework on the firms before working for them. I am afraid to become a slave of money. So much talk about passion to realise I am working merely for money, unhappily. I must, I must, I must find the suitable firm for myself after I graduate. No more trials, no more internship. Im talking about, a career, a dream, to realise the goal of my life.

I got this black old school phone from Rockstar at S$39. The ringtone is the typical 'bell ring' you heard back in 1980s. Together with a transparent pencil holder I got from Muji recently, they are now sitting together comfortably in the row of speakers, table lamp and photo frame.

I don't know why but I always think of this song whenever I see my black phone! I searched for it on youtube and found the video rather cute. Hope you like it too! Its stuck in my head now!!

This was how I spent my 2 hr break in between German Language lecture and tutorial on some Fridays during my last semester.

It was my first time using watching movie in the school library!! I love the vast amount of film collection in school, especially the local and/or artistically acclaimed ones. I felt like I've finally done justice to my school fees HAHAHA!

My first movie was Tan Pin Pin's Invisible City. I heard of this title few years back but never thought I'd get hold of it one day because it seemed so difficult to understand. I was browsing through Tan Pin Pin's film collection in the library's catalogue that day and decided to start off with this. I was glad that it wasn't as incomprehensible as I thought it would be! I appreciate the different approach she used to bring her message across and really made me wonder whats in the minds of these filmmakers... They have such unique way of thinking!

I think Royston Tan's 4:30 was less bearable than the one above. There was much lesser dialogues here, which meant that the casts was really expressive. From a novice point of view, I was impatient with the movie because there is only very subtle clues to what the story is about. Yet again, I'd agree that a piece of artwork is successful if it creates a reaction. Does this apply to films too?

This has got to be my favourite! Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love. I really love every scene in the movie because I find them all very beautifully taken. I was very impressed by how the director left out the unimportant characters visually and represent them only by a voice. I don't know how to describe this clever play of hierarchy. You have to watch it for yourself. The simple plot didn't take a lot of words to tell you whats going on. The music explains everything with its seductive yet classy melody. Maggie Cheung became my new idol since then. She redefined beauty and her acting is taken to another level of grace and depth. In my opinion, she complements the cheongsam, not the other way round.

Since we are at the topic of films and idols, I want to share with you this movie I watched last Saturday. Coco and Igor is showing at GV's Cinema Europa exclusively.

I've always admire Coco Chanel's confidence and independence. Her life was so dramatic that it became good story plots for filmmakers over the years. Despite her high profile affairs, I see her as the female icon for women today, in the fashion industry or not. Putting her fashion foresight aside, her elegance and fearless attitude is admirable. Anna Mouglalis's portrayal of such an iconic legend in Coco & Igor seems so effortlessly stylish and natural. It is difficult not to compare her portrayal of Chanel with Audrey Tautou's with the films’ releases being few months apart. Though both Mouglalis and Tautou are beautifully sophisticated as Coco Chanel, I prefer Tautou's depiction in Coco before Chanel. Her performance is strong and she owns every scene that she is in. Once she steps onto the screen it is hard to notice any other actor as she has such a powerful presence.

From the moment I decided not to take year out a few months back, I know I need to convince myself of my choice in order to enjoy the dissertation and survive through my Masters. I need to reason it out with myself like I always do. I make this decision because _____. I'd never want the blank to be 'everyone else do so' or 'this is the best among the worst'. Never. Not in this case, and never will I allow this answer to appear anytime in my life.

I had several answers for the blank but when I finally see the whole picture and feel comfortable and most importantly, convinced and very driven to work towards that goal, it was, ironically, after a sharing session by a local architecture firm.

That session made me realised what I don't want to do, although I signed up for the talk hoping I can land myself a job/internship somehow. I remember walking out of the seminar room feeling very lost and confused. I kept asking myself what exactly do I want to do and how can I generate more than just a stable income with what I'd like to do.

For the next two hours I sat down and thought very carefully about my future. I have the slightest hint of what I want to pursue but it was still challenging to form a complete sentence at that time. I went to look at websites that I'd often seek inspirations from, things that some people do which always earn my admiration and achievements of certain people whom I idolised.

Then I started drawing out my own path very carefully. To have the freedom to follow one's passion is very important to me but being a typical Singaporean, I also added in the practical factor and the waste-no-time-attitude to make sure that my dream this time is not another bubble waiting to be burst.

I felt as though I was revived! I finally understood why I did some things and I convinced myself of the decisions I will be making in the near future. I shared my excitement with David later that day and we discussed even further, making more potential plans and ideas for myself, himself and ourselves to realise in the coming years.

He told me that he was very glad that Im thinking about the future. He was glad that I have a mind of my own. He likes the fact that we share a same vision in life - that everyone should have a goal, that financial planning is not too early to start now, that for everything we want to achieve tomorrow, we need to do all the hard work today.

It all started with me, myself and I. My future, my goals, my life. I was already enlightened and smiling at my future but when I see the genuine happiness on his face by the end of the day, I realised the happiest thing that day was to be able to pursue what I want and by doing so, simply by being myself, makes this person happy. Then I realised I could comprehend what the actors always say, "... to love you for who you are."

I have my future, and so does David. We have our different responsibilities to shoulder while he has his goals to achieve and I have my dreams to pursue. To stay focused and work hard for our future is easier when we have each other as a motivation. We have since changed a little here and there in our habits and lifestyles. I am so, so proud of this relationship. It cannot be seen nor heard; only felt, but it is so powerful, so powerful that it could change us and watch us grow.

I have no idea where this essay will lead to if I go on and on. I started writing because I had so much thoughts over the past few months. I guess somehow, subconsciously, I can't leave David out of the picture when I thought about the future.

You might have noticed the huge Tent@Orchard outside Takashimaya S.C over the weekend. You probably would have brushed your shoulders with a few lanky blond-haired models while you window-shopped along Orchard Road last Friday.

YES IT WAS THE AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010!

I did some homework about the shows and thought I'd share with you some wearable pieces I adore. Im sure we all know how exaggerated and elaborated some ensembles could be! Generally, fierce shoes and chunky accessories continue to be big in this season.

The Warehouse Exclusive S/S 2010 collection was the most wearable of all in my opinion. The high-street label showcased a series of summer pastel colours and pretty party dresses that you and I could be inspired from the runway.

Next is my all-time favourite local label, alldressedup. Sven Tan churned out a Tribal Tattoo themed collection that is minimal, sleek and yet full of surprises. Despite his usual fetish for draping and simple silhouettes, the overall look still exude a strong character and most importantly, wearable by you and I! That is why I've always adored Sven Tan!

The collection from Marchesa that I'd like to share is not as wearable, but definitely something I'd like to have FOR MY WEDDING!! HAHAHAHA!! C'mon, every girl should have a dream wedding gown! I'll stick by this belief like I've always do, no matter I'm attached or not! :):)

Okay, I need to hide those ugly veins on my thighs to look pretty in this.

Okay, this is my favourite of all and I must build my collar bones to look perfect in this.

Okay, I love this too because it hides my big hips! But I still need Sheila Sim's arms to carry off this Marchesa red number. I can do it i can do it i can do it!

This is definitely a dream if dreams never come true. I'll kill to have this fierce ensemble together with the hot bod on my wedding! :D

Cheese sausage maki, pork floss maki, chicken katsu maki, chicken double katsu maki and California (minus all the veg) maki! HAHAHA ITS A CARNIVOROUS SUSHI PLATTER!!! Of course, lovingly prepared by Carnivore GUO!!

We love blue cheese on crackers! I strongly recommend Carr's Water Table Cracker with Cracked Pepper! It is so good even on its own! The Laughing Cow Cheese Spread was a good choice because it came in a good portion of 15 small cubes in 3 varieties - Blue Cheese, Plain and Cheddar Cheese. We effortlessly finished 7 cubes that day!

Dad was so excited when he knew that we are going picnic and he want us to bring his SLR along! Now I cant wait for the photos to be developed!! :):)

Though it was sweet to have a twosome picnic, we agreed that it will be more fun to include our friends the next time!! Daniel Wu and Lisa S. finally got married in a woods in South Africa near Lisa's house! Daniel commented that the woods is like a natural gothic cathedral for the wedding. WHAT COOL SHIT!

*ahem, Daniel is an Architecture graduate from University of Oregon. Let me repeat, Architecture graduate. AHEM. =D

The villagers led and sang them out of the woods and treated them to a specially prepared lamb meal.

The girl in the middle is the couple's adopted daughter! Daniel was so touched that he teared upon seeing them in the woods! He said that he had known them for years.

The energy, the life and the zest in the woods. Lisa said that she cant imagine a better way than getting married like this! I think its soooooooooo special and meaningful! Daniel fell in love with her right there when she decided to spend a month staying in a hut in South Africa without electricity :)

I say, they are two very unique individuals who are destined to meet each other! Im sooo happy for them!! hahahaha!!!

She is the high priest who presided over their ceremony! Some of her disciples even went into a trance when they spoke to their ancestors and saw Daniel and Lisa's future! HAHA AMAZING! A TRANCE in YOUR WEDDING? HAHAHA WHAT CAN BE MORE COOL THAN THIS!!

I don't know why Im so excited when I don't even know them! hahahaha! I just feel very happy to see such a compatible couple and I really like Daniel Wu for his efforts in the artists community. He is not just another handsome face with hard rock abs. This guy has a character. He will always be ... only my idol.

Wooolalala~ I've completed my Honours programme! Today marks the first Studio-free Monday for the next 3 months at least. Life had been great since Friday! I had some shopping, some catching-up, a hair cut+colour and tons of bulldozer-snuggle! Today started exceptionally well because I ignored all my alarms, except for the part I freaked out when I saw my bangs in the mirror :)

If Im a perfumer I'd create a sweet and refreshing scent now and call it Freedom. I love this smell. I love to take my time to do what I enjoy doing. I like to explore the unknown and I don't like instructions. I like to do things on the spur of the moment. My instincts hasn't failed me so far. I know I am independent and I know this holiday will still be eventful. Im gonna take things slowly and enjoy my last 3 month holiday as an undergrad! This I promise myself!

SCREW THE DAMN BLARDY EDUCATION SYSTEM IN SINGAPORE. Frankly speaking, this submission was a breeze albeit it was taxing as usual. There was merely insignificant amount of stress prior to 12th unlike the arduous 14 days before submission for the past 7 semesters. This time I even printed my panels 20hrs before it was due! :D I guess this week started off pretty well... till now at least. I have to cross my fingers for German Test!

I want to thank a very important motivator who made this submission so bearable. His presence never fail to calm me down and tell me how the world is not spinning faster every second.

Thank you for coming over to keep me accompany even though i have nothing - no time, no games, no quality DVDs, no laptop to entertain you and you simply made your presence felt without distracting me at work. Thank you for making so much time for me even when it was supposed to be your birthday, even when it means you have to wake up at 530am to take a $30 cab ride back to camp. Thank you for being such a doting boyfriend - buying me meals and stocking up finger food in the kitchen when you know i skip meals during submission period. Thank you for the 'boyfriend voucher' when you know how much i spent on my modeling materials just because I want to make a good one. Thank you for proposing a Redemption Day to give me the energy to go on for these 3 weeks. Thank you for traveling all the way from Boon Lay to Tampines just to give me a post-submission-hug, have a simple meal together and then travel back to camp 90min later.

AH! There are so many things to share today! First and foremost Im really excited about the opening of the Circle Line come 17 April! Muahaha I can now head to Kallang Airport for cheap and good food via the MRT! I can also visit museums from the Bras Basah and Promenade Stations! No more arduous journey under the hot sun! HURRAY!

Suntec City and Millenia Walk will be 1 min walk away from Promenade Station by then! Before that, I can't wait for PARCO Marina Bay @ Millenia Walk to open its doors on 31st March! Gone were the days of PARCO Bugis Junction. Inside the new PARCO, there is a fashion incubator, greatly supported by Spring Singapore, to groom young and upcoming local designers. Find out more here. Some of the labels I'll be looking out for include Yumumu, MAX.TAN and The Labelle.

Next is the upcoming Arts Festival in May! There are so many interesting plays to catch and installations to see! Some of them are even F.O.C! Anyway, there is Early Bird special if you purchase ticket before 31st Mar!

I cant wait for submission to be over in 2 wks time although April is going to be... costly. AHHHHHHH!!!

My hands got itchy when the boyfriend got a new handphone so I decided to make some clothes for his HTC SNAP!

Materials:

Thread (duh!)

Handphone screen wipe (got from the handphone screen protector package)

Leggings (which I bought before I went to Korea but nv get a chance to wear and will never wear it anymore because I've grown too old for blue and green leggings!)

The lazy boy (and many others, i believe, including myself) wants to keep the screen clean yet he refused to carry the screen wiper around so I decided to sew it into the pouch for his convenience! Now you can clean your screen even when your phone is in the pouch!

I realised that leggings are pretty good materials for a handphone pouch because of its stretchable nature. I personally hate those pouches with zips and strings so the stretch factor comes in handy when I need to secure the phone even when dropped upside-down. Of course, you gotta do your precise measurements if you want it snug-fit!

I didn't have the phone with me when I did this so I was afraid that the width would be too loose for the handphone. Hence I added a smaller ring of elastic band on top (neatly hidden beneath the green layer)!

Coincidentally, the leggings I used were quite thick and cushion-y when I put 2 layers together, 1 inside another. It is good enough for minimum shock-protection (if I may assume!) if you are not fussy about it.

Whats a D-I-Y without some customization? This time I stitched his initials at the corner. Its quick and easy! You may want to try adding some sequins, buttons, laces or even iron-ons! TRY IT TODAY!!! :)
